This Spring our High School class will work on William Shakespeare’s, As You Like It

 

Rehearsals

Regular HS rehearsals will begin Thursday 1/23/20 and run every Thursday and Friday from 6pm – 8:30pm at Mission Hills School in Castro Valley and also on Sundays from 11am – 2pm at a location TBA. As we progress thru rehearsals we will add an additional rehearsal for specific cast members on Saturdays but these will be arranged later in the process.

Starting the week of 4/27/20 – we will do our tech and dress rehearsals at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre in Hayward.

Our performances will be Friday 5/1 at 7pm and Saturday 5/2 at 7pm.

 

In addition to our regular class we will hold Shakespeare performance workshop in class on Thursday 2/6/20. Students will learn how to analyze and understand Shakespeare’s text and how to apply that work to their study of the play. Attendance at the workshop is mandatory for participation in the HS program.

 

Tuition

All CVDAA programs have a tuition.  Tuition is used to pay for instructors, rent space, pay royalties, pay designers and pay for costumes and props and also to administer the program.  However, no student is refused participation in our programs on the basis of financial need.  The tuition for this program is $600 for a minimum of 10 weeks of instruction, 2 days per week plus tech and performance week.  If you need financial assistance please go here - http://cvdaa.org/index.php/learn-performing-arts-with-us/no-student-is-denied to complete our online financial aid application or download a pdf version which you can complete and bring to us on your students first day in class.  If you simply need to do a payment plan for the tuition please reach out to us at this email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. Attendance is mandatory for all dates and times above.

This production will have a student director as well.

This spring our middle school class will begin Thursday 2/6/20 and run every Thursday and Friday from 4pm –5:45pm at Mission Hills School in Castro Valley. (except for School holidays)

 

This Spring our Middle school group will focus on learning a little bit about the history of acting technique beginning with Stanislavski and right thru to modern day acting practices. Emphasis will be placed on how to apply techniques within scene work and how to focus the actors intent to reveal meaning in a script. A specific play for performance will be chosen based on the unique make-up of the group once it is formed.
